Once you have assembled your PlantBox troughs, how would you prefer to plant them up? There are three options:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Plant up your PlantBoxes separately, then stack them together*<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Install your PlantBox living wall first, then add in the plants afterwards<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Install the bottom row of you PlantBox living wall, plant it up, then repeat with the next row until finished<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Be careful not to trap the leaves of the plants. Gently lean them forwards as you place the next PlantBox on top.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It doesn\u2019t matter which way you do this, all it comes down to is preference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have you decided? Great! Let\u2019s take a look at the 3 easy steps to planting up your strawberry plants:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Remove your strawberry plants from their pots and place them inside the troughs, ensuring the plants are tilted forwards. This will help them get the right amount of sunlight. Plant four strawberry plants per trough, with two on either side of the divider.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Fill the trough with peat-free multi-purpose compost until it is level with the top of the trough. Gently press the compost around the strawberry plants. Depending on the size of your plants, you may need to place some soil underneath to raise them up. Ensure the base of the crown rests on the surface of the compost. It\u2019s important to plant at the correct depth: too deep and it will rot, too shallow and it will dry out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Continue planting until your living wall is complete, then water in your strawberry plants using the cascading watering system. Simply keep an eye on the water level indicators to ensure the water reservoirs are full. The inner wicking felt will allow the strawberry plants to draw up the water they need as and when they need it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are using summer-fruiting strawberries, once they have fruited, cut back the leaves to promote new growth. Don\u2019t cut lower than 10cm above the crown. This isn\u2019t necessary with autumn-planting fruits\u2014just remove the old leaves at the end of the growing season.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plant spare runners (young plants that develop as offshoots from the parent plant) into any gaps in the row or use them to replace old plants. Be careful to not overcrowd the trough.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When to pick?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strawberries ripen from early summer to early autumn, depending on the variety. Pick when they are bright red all over. Don\u2019t worry, they won\u2019t steal your strawberries\u2014they prefer to snack on the flowers for nectar!
