PlantBlox How-To Guide

Collaborate with your client to pinpoint the ideal location for your living wall, factoring in considerations such as orientation, light levels, available space, and the mounting surface. Measure the space precisely to determine the required quantity of PlantBlox troughs—each trough measures 60cm wide x 20cm high x 15cm deep.

The PlantBlox system allows you to get creative. For external installations we recommend evergreen plants for year-round greenery complemented by flowering species for colour and a biodiversity boost. We offer plant and compost bundles conveniently delivered to site, ready to kickstart your project.  

Once your deliveries arrive, it’s time to assemble your PlantBlox troughs with the help of our user-friendly installation guide.

For optimal coverage and immediate impact, we recommend four 1-litre (13cm) potted plants in each through. Use peat-free compost to fill the gaps around the plants. You can either plant up your PlantBlox throughs before stacking or after, whatever works for you!

Simply stack the PlantBlox troughs together using the clips provided to hold the boxes firmly together vertically and horizontally. Ensuring proper support, secure the living wall to your client’s wall, fence or railings.  

While smaller living walls can be watered manually, larger installations benefit from an irrigation system to maintain consistent hydration. PlantBlox has a cascading irrigation system so only needs watering from the top of each column. Growing Revolution can supply irrigation kits and tap timers for hassle-free installation. 

Like any other landscaping project living walls need ongoing care. Establish a maintenance schedule with your clients to keep their living walls looking lush!
